PAYNE/D.KUMMER/VITOLS

PAYNE/D.KUMMER/VITOLS aims to celebrate the lack of definition.

Made of International Musicians based in Amsterdam, the trio’s hectic soundscapes constantly withstand turbulent shifts in state; from pointillism to stasis. Through intricately layered frames and rhythmical elasticity, each member – all leaders and composers – explore their natural penchant for playfulness with unbridled ferocity.

In contrast with its rather humble instrumentation, the band shows great concern for carefully orchestrated structures and spectral density

Alistair Payne – trumpet
Tancrède D.Kummer – drums
Uldis Vītols – double bass

TYRESTA

The duo revolves around a through-composed, length-evolving piece aiming to distort one’s notion of time and space.

Utilizing a large panel of extended techniques, by means of repetitive melodic items and relentless ostinati, the music merges raw expressivity and stasis.

Pia Reš – alto saxophone
Tancrède D.Kummer – drums; percussions

NAME NO ONE MAN

NAME NO ONE MAN believes in a self-induced music, like staring at itself through the looking glass, emerging from its own reflection.

The ensemble is inspired by the logic of the draft initiated by the author Daniel Ferrer in his “Models for a genetic critic”. Here, composed vignettes merge into one another, mirroring, impersonating, thus attempting to rewrite themselves incessantly.

Melodies, like shapeshifting characters put on different masks, display many voices, various names or costumes.
Fragments of improvisation intertwine or interrupt bluntly.
The narrative logic crumbles as the story joyfully flounders.

_ “Those who seek discover only when feverish or ushered out.
New World with frangible fingers” _ R.Char

Laura Giavon – voice
Tancrède D.Kummer – drums; compositions

LORE

An Amsterdam-based international ensemble, led by slovenian saxophonist Pia Podgornik, LORE’s haunting soundscapes are underscored by uncommon instrumentation and improvisational stamina.
The quartet dexterously steers its way through minimalism, avantgarde jazz and quiet folk melodies.

Pia Podgornik – alto saxophone
Giuseppe Doronzo – baritone saxophone
Tancrède D.Kummer – drums

Uldis Vitols 6tet

If sound is the interruption of silence, then order is merely the interruption of chaos. Commuting between these two parallels is the Uldis Vitols 6tet. By his side are a chamber-esque group of cognitive improvisers. Double Bass, Drums and four horns is how it stands. Scribbles and sketches become organic and flowing pieces. From bulging and revolving swing figures to cascading open harmonies, the band echoes a Monk state of mind in which the moment exudes honesty.

Adrien Losco – tenor sax
Alistair Payne – trumpet
Tancrède D.Kummer – drums
Camille Verhaak – clarinet
Linus Kleinlosen – alto sax
Uldis Vītols – double bass
